Sopra Banking Software Case Study

Sopra Banking Software provides global solutions including software, systems integration, support, and associated consulting services. Its solutions support nearly 600 banks in 70 countries with the objective to accompany banks in their development and their international strategy via a long-term partnership approach. To deliver these services, the company is reinforced by the expertise of more than 2,500 employees.

Due to continued growth, Sopra Banking Software had a requirement to develop a power resilience plan for their main Server Room located in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.  As Linnet Technology had provided UPS maintenance services for Sopra Banking Software for a number of years it was a natural progression for both parties to work together to formulate a plan.

Several site visits and meetings were held to clarify what the Client required and also how this could be implemented with the minimum of disruption to the business.

The final plan involved several key elements and involved considerable alterations to the existing infrastructure within the Dunstable Server Room. Key elements of the plan included the following:

  • Installation of a 60kva UPS Unit to support the IT equipment within the Server Room
  • Installation of a 80kva UPS Unit to support the Air Conditioning units associated with the Server Room
  • Additional AC supplies to provide power to the new cabinets. New power distribution units fitted within cabinets.
  • Additional data cabling links to new cabinets carried out by Evolved IT Solutions, a business partner of Linnet Technology who specialise in data installations and testing.
